The United States Environment
Protection Authority (EPA)
released a publication on "sick building syndrome"
in 1991.
The first cause of sick building syndrome listed was inadequate ventilation, which
may also occur if heating, ventilating,
and air conditioning systems do not effectively distribute air to people in
the building.
As a solution to sick building syndrome,
the United State EPA recommends the routine maintenance of heating,
ventilating,
and air conditioning
systems.

5 Stage Method for IAQ
1. Clean Air will conduct a methodical video
inspection of key areas of the HVAC system
and report the findings.
HVAC Inspection for Indoor Air Quality
Integrity (IAQ)
Photographic / video inspection of
key
areas of
the HVAC system.
Take SWAB samples of Ductwork for
bacteria and fungi.
Chemical analysis of the duct's
particulate matter
Filtration analysis
Conclusions and recommendations
2. Clean Air will conduct air quality tests
throughout the building. Once this is completed,
the Team Leader / Manager will report the
results and make all necessary recommendations
to comply
with the necessary Australian Standards.
Temperature and humidity testing in
key areas over a 24 hour cycle
Bacteria and fungi testing in duct
Air flow tests at key registers and coils
3. We will clean the entire HVAC system to
National Air Duct Cleaning Association Standards
(NADCA). These standards include the following:
Air handling units will be degreased &
pressure washed
All supply and return ductwork will be
cleaned utilising our unique system,
brushing, utilising H.E.P.A. filtered
vacuum units
Ductwork will be treated to eliminate all bacteria and fungi growth. Damaged
interior insulation may be repaired and
rejuvenated
to original specifications.
All supply and return registers will be
cleaned
Before and after video inspections to
verify the cleaning process
All heating / cooling coils, controls, etc.
will be cleaned and treated.
4. We will submit a comprehensive final
report outlining all of our findings, laboratory
test results, and recommendations. The final
written report will include:
Video presentation (optional)
IAQ Certificate of Assurance
5. As part of the service, Clean Air can
inspect the building and report on the follwing:
HVAC contamination levels
Key air quality readings
Any HVAC IAQ deficiencies
